There is NO Place for Hate!

Not long ago same sex marriage was passed by the legislature!  RU12? Community Center celebrated this victory like many others.  The Vermont Freedom to Marry office is located in the RU12? building and together we hung a banner that said Thank you Vermont, Will you marry me?  This banner has been hanging for about 2 weeks.

Over the weekend someone came by and in red spray paint defaced the banner by writing FAGS on it as well as the RU12? building!

We are saddened by the fact that someone would deface our banner, we are also saddened by the continuation of hate speech happening here in Burlington Vermont.

SafeSpace, the anti-violence program of the RU12? Community Center is available to anyone who feels like they need to talk about incidences such as this one that have occured against them specifically, or someone they know.Thecenter-1 Office hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  Please call if you or someone you know needs assistance, we are here to help.  Unfortunately these type of words are slung around all too often and affect so many of us.

Contact us at 863-0003.
