Mpowerment
Mpowerment is a community-building project developed with and for young gay and bi men. Through planning social activities, holding in depth and fun discussions, and maintaining a presence at gay events, Mpowerment strives to create strong and healthy connections among men.
The Mpowerment model has been implemented in many cities across the US. It has been shown to have a positive impact on the young gay and bi men who have been impacted by it, reducing rates of HIV infection and increasing a sense of community.
The Chittenden county “chapter” of Mpowerment is called GLAM. GLAM is working to bring young men together in a fun and sex-positive way, which has been especially important in our rural, gay-bar-lacking state. There are many ways to get involved, from the being a part of the central “core group” that guides the project, to volunteering to help run an event, to attending one of our Mgroup discussions. If you’re a young gay or bisexual man who would like to get involved, e-mail glam@ru12.org and let us know. We’re always looking for new members and you’re bound to have a good time in whatever level you participate! Check out our MySpace and browse through our bowling pictures to see just how GLAM it is!
